When I received my potato masher I was anxious to put it to the test so I opened it right away. Prior to reading the directions, it confused me quite a bit as to how to open it. It has a feature that allows for the mashing head to fold flat so it can be stored in a drawer. That really is a nice feature, I have several plastic containers on my counter that holds all the utensils that wont fit in my drawers. To open the potato masher you squeeze in on the handles and pull the masher forward until it is in the correct position, then release the handles to lock in place. When you are finished just do the same in reverse.
The masher seems to be made of high quality materials and I think it will last much longer than the same product purchased in a retail setting. It mashes anything that gets in its path to a pulp and it has a rounded head, instead of the flat ones I have seen before. I'm not sure if this is more helpful or benefits one with mashing potato's, but it is a feature I haven't seen before. It has an easy grip handle. It is perfect for mashing potatoes, bananas, fruits, etc. Just anything you need to mash. It allows you to prepare healthy great tasting foods for your family.
It is made of rust resistant stainless steel. To clean you can hand wash or place in the dishwasher. Just be sure to dry it thoroughly. Then fold your masher and place out of site in your utensil drawer. I really do like that feature. So far I haven't found anything I don't like about the masher, it does seem to be well made and it does the job it is intended for.
